The kon ("bo" in standard Japanese) forms the centrepiece of weapons training in most martial systems and this is apparent even in the Wu-Wei Dao system where the kon is usually seen as a prerequisite to studying the sai, tonfa and kama. Apart from being an effective weapon it teaches the important principle of projected focus or "kime". Kon is an elective weapon from Nidan 3 onwards. The kon units available are listed below:

Unit 1 Kon Drill |

Unit 2 Hitsuyo Shodan no kon: One half of a long, circular kata that incorporating all of the essential techniques that can be used as a 2-person form or embu. Members can also download a pdf of the kata. |

Unit 3 Hitsuyo Nidan no kon: The other half of a long, circular kata incorporating all of the essential techniques that can be used as a 2-person form or embu. Members can also download a pdf of the kata. |

Unit 4 Sempo no kon: A kata designed to be combined with Hitsuyo Sai, Tonfa or Kama katas to form a 2-person kata or embu. Members can also download pdf of the kata. |

Unit 5 Shushi no kon (also known as or "Shugi no kon"). Literally "Shushi's kon kata"). |

Unit 6 Sakagawa no kon: A fairly advanced kata developed by weapons master Sakagawa. There are 3 traditional variations of this kata, A, B and C. In the Academy we practice version A. |
